Discover our world in the Nyíregyháza Zoo! Sóstó ZOO = 500 species + 5,000 animals + 30 hectares

The Nyíregyháza Zoo, often called ‘the zoo of zoos’ is located in a 30-hectare oak forest where 5,000 animals of 500 species live in yards resembling their natural habitat. Wherever possible, guests are separated from the animals only by a dry ditch or water-ditch.

A visit here actually feels like an adventure in the wild. The rare animals such as the Sumatran tiger, the Komodo dragon, and the Indian rhinoceros living here are placed according to their continents, so visiting them is like a journey round the world.

It’s worth returning to the park each year, as – thanks to the developments and investments – you can find something new here each time.

The Zoo won the Europe’s best zoo award in the below-500,000 visitors category in 2015, 2018 and in 2021. In 2021 it was voted the Touristic Attraction of the Year on the szallas.hu website. The ‘Green Pyramid and Oceanarium’ building won a special award at the world’s most famous property development competition.
