Boarding House and Restaurant Svájci Lak

Nyíregyháza-Sóstógyógyfürdő is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Eastern Hungary. It offers a real experience for both children and adults. Svájci Lak (i.e. Swiss Chalet) is the perfect starting point for exploring them, just a few steps away from both the Park Baths and Aquarius Spa, in the neighbourhood of the most spectacular zoo in Hungary, the Sóstó Zoo, and the Sóstó Open-Air Village, which presents local folk architecture. János Melhouse, born in Saxony, designed and built one of the most interesting buildings in Sóstógyógyfürdő. Its creation was motivated by the popularity of the spa and the growing interest in the Sóstó. The building, reminiscent of a chalet in the mountains, has always served as a guest house, and the town’s authorities have also accommodated their distinguished guests here. Actress Lujza Blaha, authors Krúdy, Karinthy and many other artists and politicians have stayed within its walls. The building has been expecting its guests since 1866.
